Throughout the next 40 years, the Submariner was updated with improved water resistance, new movements, and numerous small cosmetic changes. In 2003, Rolex celebrated the Submariner’s 50th anniversary by launching the Rolex Submariner-Date anniversary edition (16610 LV), with distinguishing features such as the green bezel and Maxi dial; its production ended in 2010 with the final watches being issued with the new “random” serial number. In 2008, a new case from the GMT II was introduced for the Submariner-Date, featuring heavier lugs and crownguard; a cerachrome bezel and updated clasp featuring a quick adjust function were also added. The 14060M did not have these modifications.

Following Bamford’s blacked-out aesthetic, the Rolex Submariner Ceramic Date Spirit sees a micro-checkered dial with the absence of indices and hour markings. The date bubble has been left intact as it makes perfect use of the empty space and is further punctuated by the black and white ceramic bezel. The French diving company COMEX adopted the Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller as standard issue for their saturation divers in the late 1960s; this continued until the company was sold in 1997.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller, introduced in 1971, is a heavier-duty steel version of the Submariner, with a thicker case and crystal, as well as a date feature, sans cyclops magnifier. The Sea-Dweller incorporates a helium escape valve for use when decompressing and helium is in the gas mixture of a pressurized habitat; this model (ref 16600) has a guaranteed waterproof depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 ft).
The Sea-Dweller was superseded by the DeepSea Sea-Dweller in late 2008, with the last 16600 Sea-Dwellers produced running into the V-series (late 2008). The DeepSea features a 44 mm case that guarantees a depth of 3,900 metres (12,800 ft)

Replica Omega are the great attributes to accentuate your success and social position. The outstanding quality and design make them famous all over the world and their popularity doesn’t wink out as the years pass by.

Thomas Prescher, independent watchmaker extraordinaire, once again creates an exclusive, custom-made design for a special customer. This exquisite piece features retrograde “hands” in the form of a wing for the hours on the left side of the dial and a staff for the minutes on the right side of the dial.  While some watchmakers create a custom timepiece from a sketch for a client, and at the end produce a finished product, Prescher kept his customer very much in the loop. Click on the Tempus Vivendi replica watch image to go behind the scenes in the making of this very special piece.

More than a dozen years ago, a friend of mine, Gilles Robert, who has created and designed watches for some of the world’s foremost brands, created a line of ladies’ watches under his Gilles Robert name. I own one of those lovely steel-and-gold timepieces and am proud to still own and wear it.
